Description

The Merthyr Express ran an article in 1995 together with an illustration by Dewi Bowen, about the Luftwaffe bombs falling close to Blaenglais farm near Vaynor on 27 July 1944. Dewi Bowen was 11 years old when the Second World War broke out. In 1947 he became a Bevin Boy, conscripted to work in the Dowlais Colliery. He recorded his wartime and mining experiences with beautifully executed drawings, many of which have featured in the local press.
