Description

A drawing by Dewi Bowen, of his Sunday School trip to Barry, in 1943. Dewi was 11 years old when the Second World War broke out. In 1947 he became a Bevin Boy, conscripted to work in the Dowlais Colliery. He recorded his wartime and mining experiences with beautifully executed drawings, many of which have featured in the local press.
