Description

Front of a postcard sent from a POW Camp by Jim Phillips to his mother in Abersychan near Pontypool. The card is dated 1st October 1944. Jim Phillips joined the South Wales Borderers in 1939. After the majority of Jim's comrades were lost fighting in Iraq the remaining Borderers joined a section of the King's Own Regiment to take the small Greek Island of Leros. But their presence was discovered and the surviving soldiers were captured and transported to Germany as prisoners of war.
