Description
Office form 212 from the Infantry Records Office. It is addressed to Mr Phillips, the father of Jim Phillips, who was previously a prisoner of war. The letter informs Mr Phillips that his son returned to Britain from the prisoner of war camp on 16 May 1945. The letter concludes by wishing Jim good luck for the future and is signed on behalf of the Officer in charge of Infantry Records. Jim Phillips joined the South Wales Borderers in 1939. After the majority of Jim's comrades were lost fighting in Iraq the remaining Borderers joined a section of the King's Own Regiment to take the small Greek Island of Leros. But their presence was discovered and the surviving solders were captured and transported to Germany as prisoners of war.
