Elizabeth Richards standing in the bomb crater made in her garden, with the family dog, August 1940 Item Reference : cny02739
Description
Elizabeth's house was bombed in late July or early August 1940. Luckily the bomb landed in the garden, blowing in all the doors and windows and showering the family with glass and plaster, but leaving them all unhurt. This is a photograph of Elizabeth in the crater, with the family dog. The local vicar took the photograph, and a friend developed it in his home-made darkroom, hence the rather poor quality of the image.
