Dennis Cockbill was awarded this certificate in December 1941, in recognition of his proficiency as a Wireless Operator (Air). He went on to fly as a vital part of the crew on many bombing missions. Dennis Cockbill flew with Bomber Command as a wireless operator, taking part in many bombing raids over Europe during the Second World War. During the spring of 1945, he flew with Operation Manna, a relief mission taking vital food supplies to starving Dutch civilians.
