Description

Steven sent this photograph home to his parents - he had been posted to Portsmouth for two weks to complete a radio training course. Steven Ryan joined the Chepstow T.A. on March 8th 1938. He was sixteen years old, two years below the minimum age requirement, but he lied about his age to get in. His first postings included working with searchlight crews on the Home Front, and he went on to operate and train on anti-aircraft guns both at home and abroad.
