Description

Handmade embroidered card that was sent to Annie Maggie Lewis (Nancy), in March 1940, by her brother Emlyn who was serving in France during the Second World War. They were quite common during this period and were handmade by French women who then sold them to soldiers to send home to their loved ones. Robert Lewis, the husband of Annie Maggie Lewis (Nancy), was called up for military service in 1944 in which he enlisted with the Royal Welch Fusiliers.
