Newspaper cutting belonging to William John Lewis. It includes a photograph of H.M.S Pioneer and all the crewmembers that were on board including William himself. William John Lewis lived in Dinorwig, North Wales when the Second World War broke out. In September 1942, at the age of 19 years old, he was conscripted to join the Royal Navy. He received training in Plymouth and in Chatham Kent and one of his duties was to be responsible for escorting North Atlantic convoys. He stayed in the forces until April 1946.
