This letter was sent to William Davies' wife, Jenny, to inform her that her husband was a prisoner of war in Germany. She had not heard from her husband for 4 months and thus had no idea until this letter arrived if he was dead or alive. William Robert Davies enlisted with the forces at the beginning of the Second World War and on 9 April 1941, he was captured and taken prisoner at the POW camp Stalag XB. He was in captivity for 4 years.
