This article was published in the Daily Mail in 1994 to mark the 50th anniversary since the end of the Second World War. It tells the story of the reunion of actor Richard Todd and Major John Howard who were members of the 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry regiment. John Kenneth Hughes remembers them well and recalls that all three of them were part of the crew that was responsible for the D-Day capture of Pegasus Bridge on the night of 6 June 1944. During the Second World War John Kenneth Hughes trained as a radio signaller for the 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry regiment. Kenneth took part in the Battle at Hamminkeln and also in the D-Day capture of Pegasus Bridge on the night of 6 June 1944.
