Description

German prisoner of war document showing photos and fingerprint of Gordon Postlethwaite, 21 October 1944. The document was obtained by Gordon when the camp was liberated by Allied forces. Gordon Postlethwaite from Manchester joined the RAF on 9 July 1941 aged 18 years. He successfully trained as a pilot in Alabama USA and returned to Europe where he flew numerous missions. He crashed and was taken prisoner in 1944 and was sent to a camp in Poland, where he stayed until the end of the war when the camp was liberated.
