Description

The letter is written to give Gordon's parents more information about his disappearance. Kenneth states that he has recieved news that Gordon has been taken as a POW and reassures Mr and Mrs Postlethwaite that Gordon will be teated well by his captors. Gordon Postlethwaite from Manchester joined the RAF on 9th July 1941 aged 18 years. He successfully trained as a pilot in Alabama USA and returned to Europe where he flew numerous missions. He crashed and was taken prisoner in 1944 and was sent to a camp in Poland, where he stayed until the end of the war when the camp was liberated.
