Postcard of Washington Street in Albany. The postcard was bought by Gordon Postlethwaite in 1942 as a souvenir of his trip to the USA to train as a pilot. Gordon Postlethwaite from Manchester joined the RAF on 9th July 1941 aged 18 years. He successfully trained as a pilot in Alabama USA and returned to Europe where he flew numerous missions. He crashed and was taken prisoner in 1944 and was sent to a camp in Poland, where he stayed until the end of the war when the camp was liberated.
