Description

Postcard sent by Gordon Postlethwaite to his parents from a prisoner of war camp to say he is in good health, 23rd November 1944. The card goes on to say that he will be transported to another camp shortly, so not to write until they recieve a new address. Gordon Postlethwaite from Manchester joined the RAF on 9th July 1941 aged 18 years. He successfully trained as a pilot in Alabama USA and returned to Europe where he flew numerous missions. He crashed and was taken prisoner in 1944 and was sent to a camp in Poland, where he stayed until the end of the war when the camp was liberated.
