Service and pay book of William Alfred Jones. This book showed that William had enlisted in Derby on 29 February 1929, to serve seven years, and a further five in the reserves with the British Regular Army.William was a reservist at the outbreak of the Second World War and was called up to serve. William Alfred Jones enlisted with the Armed Forces in 1939. He married his girlfriend, Amy in January 1940 and was allowed 3 days leave before rejoining the forces. During his time in service he was severely wounded and had to spend 9 months in hospital suffering with burns.
