Description

Notes by lady at Grenville Neilson's Church (now deceased). Grenville Neilson was 19 years old when his home town of Swansea was blitzed in 1941. His sister was born at the height of the bombing. In October of that year he joined the RAF, and was appointed to the Meteorological Unit, becoming a Met Observor. After his training, he was posted to a unit within the artillery, as weather conditions could have a major affect on the use of weapons. Two or three Met Observors would be attached to each unit. Grenville went to Tunisia initially, and then on to Italy, taking part in the Anzio invasion.
